Linda Carman

Linda Carman has made a career of baking biscuits and cornbread. For 20 years, she was director of consumer affairs and the test kitchen for Martha White, the famous Southern brand of flour, corn meal and baking mixes. In her early years with the company, she traveled across the South conducting baking demonstrations and cooking schools. Currently, she is a Southern food consultant and continues as the Martha White spokesperson. She has compiled three cookbooks for Martha White: Southern Traditions, 100 years of recipes from the Martha White Kitchens. (Creative Publishing international, 1999), The Southern Baking Book and The Southern Sampler (Rutledge Hill, 1989). As a native of Cullman, Ala., she credits her mother's good Southern cooking as the greatest inspiration to her career.
